Cannabis Coming to Berlin – Snoop Dogg Already There
The legalization of cannabis in Germany has been on the cards for a while now, and farsighted serial founder Finn Age Hänsel started up his Sanity Group back in 2018 with the intention of developing and distributing innovative cannabis pharmaceuticals as consumer products based on non-psychoactive cannabinoids. The group, which encompasses digital health company Belfry and pharma company Vayamed as well as care products, may be the best funded cannabis company in Germany. Though the valuation is sketchy, celebrities like it, with football stars, actors, and models among the group’s backers. The tobacco industry is not stupid and recognizes when it is time to diversify, and now British American Tobacco (BAT) has led a series B round of €37M, as Business Insider reports. Prominent early investor Calvin Broadus and his company Casa Verde Capital went along. What? You’ve never heard of Calvin Broadus? Well, that is the real name of rapper Snoop Doggy Dog, who is partner of Casa Verde, which specializes in financing cannabis startups.
