Employee Wellbeing Trend Benefits Urban Sports Club
The platform Urban Sports Club connects the staff of participating companies with local fitness clubs, as a perk provided by their employer. Originally founded in 2012, USC just got an astonishing €95M in backing to go international with its B2B model, as Business Insider reports. Lead investor Verdane sees USC as a good match for their ‘growth themes’ digitalisation and decarbonisation. According to founders Moritz Kreppel and Benjamin Roth, the investment comes as a result of their focus on the employee benefits market, which by now accounts for the greater part of its membership base. The company managed a strong bounce-back after the pandemic years, which hit gyms and sports clubs hard and slowed down USC’s international growth. USC has over 10,000 fitness club partners, or ‘venues’, in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, with Austria next on the agenda.
