Feather: Simplifying Insurance for Europe's Expats
Feather, a Berlin-based insurtech startup focused on simplifying insurance for expats in Europe, has secured €6 million in its latest funding round, bringing its total funding to €10 million. The company has developed a pan-European digital platform to serve the over 50 million expats living and working in Europe.
Founded in 2018 by Rob Schumacher and Vincent Audoire, Feather aims to address the shortcomings of traditional insurance offerings for the mobile migrant workforce and student population. The founders' personal struggles with navigating the German insurance system inspired them to create a bespoke platform offering honest, unbiased advice and recommendations.
At the heart of Feather's offering is a purpose-built and modular full-stack tech platform. By partnering with insurance companies, Feather ensures regulatory compliance while managing all aspects of the insurance process online and in-house. This approach allows for a more cost-effective, responsive, and user-friendly experience.
To date, Feather has helped over 50,000 people from more than 150 countries obtain insurance digitally. The company currently serves expats in Germany, France, and Spain, with plans to launch in three more countries by the end of 2024.
The latest funding round, led by Keen Venture Partners with participation from Plural and senior leaders from Allianz, AXA, and Bastian, will fuel Feather's expansion into new European markets. The company aims to create a pan-European product that expats can take with them from country to country.
Feather's rapid growth is evident in its recent launch in Spain, which has shown significant progress in just six months. With its focus on transparency, simplicity, and trust, Feather is poised to transform the insurance landscape for expats across Europe.
