Germany’s First Sponsorship Program for AI
In the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) three of the city’s major universities teamed up with the medical school Charité to promote research. The alliance has now initiated an AI-excellence program called K.I.E.Z (Künstliche Intelligenz Entrepreneurship Zentrum – Artificial Intelligence Entrepreneurship Centre). While KIEZ is the National AI-Competence Center, it aims to be a friendly neighborhood incubator and accelerator for international startups establishing themselves in Berlin. The Berlin Institute for Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD), itself a beacon for AI-research nationwide, is also involved. The use cases for AI are manifold and therefore so are the industries such startups address, for instance AI-sales platform Creatext or Green Fusion, which optimizes energy systems. As KI-Berlin sums up, KIEZ supports startups from pre-seed funding and beyond to market maturity with service packages for participating startups that are exceptionally attractive to founders.
