Identity governance platform Cakewalk is making waves in the security sector with several significant announcements. According to a company press release, the Berlin-based startup has secured $7.5 million in seed funding led by Kindred Capital and Vertex Ventures US, while simultaneously launching a new AI agent called "Agent Cake."
The new AI solution is designed to automate routine identity governance tasks such as account provisioning, aligning with the company's core principle of "putting simplicity first" in security management.
Beyond Agent Cake, Cakewalk revealed an ambitious product roadmap for Q1 and Q2 2025. The company is launching an AI Risk Score feature to provide organizations with visibility into the AI risk level across their application portfolios. Additional features arriving in late April include the ability to differentiate between managed and non-managed applications, giving customers more control over governance priorities.
For developers and integration partners, an Open API is scheduled for release by the end of May, suggesting Cakewalk is prioritizing extensibility alongside its core security offerings.
"Your security product should work for you. Not you for your security product," states the company in its communications, emphasizing its focus on simplifying identity and access management (IAM).
The funding round and product expansion reflect growing market interest in streamlined security solutions that reduce administrative overhead while maintaining robust governance capabilities. Cakewalk positions itself as "the future of identity governance" in a space traditionally known for complexity and administrative burden.
