A Berlin-based AI startup is changing how documentation works across healthcare and beyond, according to information from the company's press release. voize, which develops voice-powered documentation solutions, has successfully closed a $9 million seed funding round led by HV Capital, with continued support from Y Combinator, redalpine, and HPI Ventures.

Founded in 2020 by twin brothers Fabio and Marcel Schmidberger along with Erik Ziegler, voize emerged from a personal experience. When their grandfather entered a nursing home, the founders witnessed firsthand how caregivers were burdened with extensive documentation requirements, leaving less time for actual care.

The startup's AI technology allows care professionals to speak their documentation entries directly into a smartphone. The specialized AI understands medical terminology, dialects, and non-native speakers, automatically structuring spoken sentences into complete care documentation. This technology integrates with existing documentation systems including Connext Vivendi and MedifoxDAN.

The results are impressive: over 600 care facilities and more than 50,000 care professionals now use voize daily. According to a pilot study conducted with Charité, the solution reduces documentation time by 39 minutes per shift.

With the new funding, voize is expanding into hospitals, starting with discharge management in partnership with Recare. The company's vision extends beyond healthcare – voize is already being used in the technical inspection industry, with TÜV inspectors using the technology for nearly 30% of all vehicle inspections in Germany.

Founded by graduates of the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, voize has grown to a team of 50 employees. The company aims to make documentation as simple as speaking – creating more time for what truly matters in any profession where paperwork distracts from core responsibilities.
